How NOT to Post Your Resume on Craigslist
I was searching through the resumes posted on Craigslist today to find candidates for a sales position we have available. I found some pretty pathetic attempts from job seekers looking for jobs, so I thought I’d share in the hopes that you won’t make the same mistakes these people are making, just in the headlines alone! Some of the top resume mistakes are covered in my free report and in my book. Bad headline #1: “Seeking Work” Similar bad headlines: “Looking... |

Bad Boss of the Week: In Good Company’s Carter Duryea
In Good Company’s Carter Duryea doesn’t have any over-the-top quirks, personality traits or attitude issues that make him impossible to work for. In fact, he’s quite likeable – even charming. What makes him this week’s bad boss is his inexperience. His lack of work experience causes him to have tunnel vision and he fails to focus on his clients’ needs. Carter replaces a highly qualified twenty-year executive veteran of an advertising company after a corporate takeover. When Carter... |

SlideShare's 'Tell-a-Story' Judges Get Story Right-ish
On Tuesday, I noted that SlideShare’s “Tell-a-Story” slide presentation contest had closed, and results were in the hands of the judges. The SlideShare folks had identified three of their own favorites, only one of which, The Short Story of Drunkenomics, I felt was actually a story. I’m pleased that the judges recognized the storytelling capacity of Drunkenomics and awarded the presentation the contest’s $5,000 grand prize. Other prizes went to: The comic-book-like... |

Watch What You Say
Social media is amazing. We can think something, type it, and just like that, broadcast it to the world. Amazing! But this ability to communicate with everyone has a downside. All too often, people feel that because they can say something, they should. I can’t count the number of smart and interesting people I’ve stopped following on Twitter because they kept sending out political missives that I neither agreed with nor wanted to hear. The same goes for overly religious content. I’m... |

You may have missed her American counterpart Kevin Skinner, the unemployed chicken farmer from Kentucky. Here’s his five minute performance on “America’s Got Talent.” ... |

Free Webinar: Where Is The Recession Headed?
A couple of weeks ago I had a chance to chat with Mark Hovind, of Job Bait, about this recession. It was one of those times I wished... |
